I don't know that you did offend anyone ;) You sorta hit the nail on the head....it's a Feeling that you have that you wish to share.

Converting the world is the work we've been called to by our Lord.

And?

I don't know about them. I just know what Jesus has done for me in my life. I wish every one could feel that !

Well...okay a lot of people have done the "saved by Jesus" thing along with church and the general feeling that you described above. Then they become Buddhist or Pagan or Hindu or <<gasp>> atheist ;) I.e. some people HAVE done what you said and have still followed other paths that make more sense to them. You might believe that Jesus is the only way, that doesn't make it true. You might have a great feeling from your experience, but others have not had that experience and so are enjoying an alternate path. If it works for you, super. But telling someone else it's the ONLY way wellllllllllllllllllll not so super. Either way, it's always only my opinion which you will take or leave. And either way, welcome to jwd.

There is one way. JESUS ! All other paths lead off into damnation. Be careful freinds ! I know we were all hurt very bad by the terrible cult of Jehovah Witnesses but don't leave Christ. He wants you !

That is YOUR way and it sounds like it works for you. For many others, they take a different path to spirituality. Devon: I'm not Buddhist. Not anything right now. However, the principles of Buddhism stick with me on a day to day basis. What form are you looking at? From what I gather there are several different 'kinds'. I guess I would say branches of it. Just curious.

I think its cool because few shows have any real depictions of asian men married to caucasian women.
That being said, just because you have a bunch of kids doesnt mean you deserve on-air recognition for it.

Hey there toots a) I agree. I must admit that this was one of my first thoughts when I saw the show the first time. I thought 'Cool, an Asian guy.' There seems to be, still, so many stereotypes out there, this was refreshing. b) HEH YES I agree with this as well. I have yet to figure out Why they have a television show about these people. The one where they had the mammoth party for the kids, well imo mammoth, left me thinking.....so what? Then again, I'm still looking at Survivor like "So What?".

and they caught me at home a couple of times.. a couple of months ago, two nice, very young men (teens) came to the door.. my dog was barking, my older one was walking around without clothes and all i could think of was "i'm soooooooooooo not up for this today.".

so, i said "yeah, uhm, i'm an apostate.

" the big grins dissapeared and they walked away.. the other day, my bathroom plumbing is getting rerigged and there's a ton of stuff going on, i'm dripping wet from the pool and two woman come up my drive..

Sure I can do that. Send it along to me and I'll send it to them and heh since they're usually standing right by my mailbox I can stick some stamps on them and tuck them in, the postman will pick them up.

The dubs must be lazy in Charlotte, going on 5 years now and I have only had one JW run in. The one time it did happen I wasn't at my house. I keep waiting for the knock one Saturday morning but it never comes.

They probably walk by your house and point and say..."oooooh there's Burgertime's house. I heard he made a pact with the devil..."

Yeah, it's funny. I KNOW these people KNOW I'm the big bad wolf, er apostate. But still it seems like they come.I think they think I've gone soft. Heh, in my old age, I guess I have.

Maybe with the dumbing down of society and the JW's too, maybe they don't understand what the word "solicitors" means.
You might have to add an extra sign saying " * this means anyone trying to promote products or ideas ".

Not a bad idea. I have to say it really amazes me the way they can look at it and knock anyway.

If the JWs come to my door I am polite and tell them I'm not interested and have them leave as quickly as possible. I could argue with them but they took years from my life, why even give them a few more minutes of my time? Actually, if it's witnesses or someone else I don't want to talk to, I don't even bother answering the door. Eventually they go away.

I have a younger cousin (never a witness) who used to play Black Sabbath music and act crazy when the JWs came to his door. It was funny, but yes, just reinforces the JWs belief structure.

Exactly. I hear of people who talk about showing up at the door naked or doing something absurd, and I think...if I were a witness, that would reinforce my beliefs.

I love it. Heh, you should have chased them down the street. It would have given them nightmares for weeks.

Heh, yeaaah, that would have. Ultimately keeping them IN the organization, as they would be terrified for years to come that they would end up just like the crazy apostate that lives on that street.

Sheesh, I think I need to move. Ya know, the thing that annoys me MORE is that I HAVE a sign on my door, that came from the city that prohibits solicitors. And wouldn't ya know, in a one month span AT&T visited our home, knocking on our door 4 times. That doesn't count the other solicitors who have stood on my porch. Good grief! I swear the next time they show up I am going to point at the sign and tell them to read it out loud. And when they're done I'll tell them... The next time you knock on my door, I WILL call the police. OR at least sic my shih tzu on you.

I agree Memphis-
People that acted crazy only reinforced my religous ideals. I never behave that way when they come a' knockin.

Thank you Freud. I think in many ways some of my words and deeds since leaving have done more damage than good and have alienated myself even more so. There is much I regret, and I cannot undo those things. Once it is done and said it is done and said and cannot be retrieved. I do think that some of that has just reinforced in the minds of some that apostates are hateful and crazy. Being on the other side I do understand WHY this is the case, but there have been times that had I kept my mouth shut and taken a breath, I might have provided a better "witness" to what it means to leave the Organization behind. It's in the past, can't change it, but I can try to do better in the future.

They will not be getting in my apartment. I will make sure all they get is to waste their time ringing the door bell and knocking. If they do get in, I will just turn on the Christmas tree and lights and play some Christmas music as I pull out my Ouija board and Crisis of Conscience.

Something that occurred to me recently though is this...
I remember when I used to go out in service. People would do some very mean and rude things to me at times. Some times people would through out the cult word and go on and on about how evil the religion was. All it did, for me, was reinforce that I had the right religion. Because "look at how bad people are when they don't have Jah on their side." Typical dub dribble? Yes, of course. So, I think more and more lately I feel like why give them a reason to say anything? Why give them a real reason? Why give them the satisfaction? Perhaps that is the real reason I just don't say anything. For me, right now, where I'm at in this place and time....it's just not worth it.

please forgive me for the brevity, but its essential for the clarity that this most emotional topic deserves.

I offer no specific reasons for this. Why? Because I have no interest in affecting the faith of others. We all need to make our own decisions, find our own way, and make our own stand. I have to do what I know is right. In general, because of inconsistency of teachings, falsity of claims, unconscionable policy regarding child abuse, and repeated reversals of doctrine, I can no longer place my faith in this religion.
